WACHUSETT, MASS. - The Boston College women's ski team finished second at the Brown Carnival on Saturday, Jan. 28, as freshman Courtney Willson took first place in the afternoon's slalom competition.
With the second-place finish, BC remains in first place among the 10 Eastern Collegiate Skiing Conference (ECSC) schools.
Willson finished her two runs in 44.31 seconds and 45.90 seconds, respectively. Her total time of 1:30.21 bested Plymouth State's Melissa Caflisch, who captured a total time of 1:30.38.
The women's ski team placed four skiers in the top 13, and six Eagles landed in the top 25. Junior Courtney Culnane (1:33.10) raced to a ninth-place finish, and juniors Kara Hoisington (1:33.93) and Courtney Hollis (1:34.20) finished 12th and 13th, respectively.
"The highlight of the weekend was Courtney Willson's win," head coach Peter Endres said. "She has been skiing well all season, and it's great to see her get her first win of her college career. Courtney Culnane, Kara Hoisington and Courtney Hollis are also skiing very well, adding depth to the team and helping out tremendously with the team's scoring."
BC finished with an overall team time of 277.24 seconds, and the University of Massachusetts captured first-place, posting a time of 276.65 seconds. Colby/Sawyer, Plymouth State and Brown rounded out the top five.
The women's ski team returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the MIT Carnival in Loon, N.H.
