Women's Skiing Finishes First at Plymouth State Carnival

WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - The Boston College women's ski team raced to first-place finishes in the slalom and giant slalom events of the Plymouth State Carnival on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan 22. After two weekends of ski competition, BC stands in first place in the Eastern Collegiate Skiing Conference (ECSC).
Freshman Courtney Willson led the way for Boston College, finishing third overall in the slalom and giant slalom events. Willson finished with a total time of 1 minute and 46.88 seconds in the slalom races and 1:12.52 in giant slalom competition.
The Eagles placed four skiers in the top 12 of the slalom event and landed three competitors in the top nine of the giant slalom.
Junior Courtney Culnane raced to a fifth-place finish in the giant slalom event and a sixth-place finish in the slalom race. Classmate Kara Hoisington rounded out the top 10 of the slalom race, finishing with an overall time of 1:52.87. Junior Courtney Hollis finished ninth in the giant slalom competition and 12th in the slalom.
"It was a great weekend for us," head coach Pete Endres said. "The women won both days, and Courtney Willson was on the podium in third place both in the slalom and giant slalom. I was extremely pleased with the team's skiing this weekend."
Boston College finished with an overall team time of 331.10 seconds in the slalom event, finishing 0.72 seconds ahead of the University of Massachusetts. Brown University, Plymouth State and Colby/Sawyer rounded out the top five.
In the giant slalom competition, the Eagles accumulated a total time of 219.05 seconds, finishing 0.69 seconds ahead of the University of Massachusetts. Colby/Sawyer, Plymouth State and Brown University rounded out the giant slalom top five.
The women's ski team returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Brown Carnival in Wachusett, Mass.
