Greensboro, N.C. - Boston College's Brooke Queenan (West Chester, Pa.) was honored by the conference office as this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week. The honor is Queenan's first this season. It marks the first time that an Eagle has been so honored by the conference office this year.
Queenan posted a trio of double-doubles in leading the Eagles to a 3-0 mark since Dec. 19. Maryland's Marissa Coleman was named the league's Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 17 points and nearly nine rebounds per game as the Terrapins also went 3-0.
Queenan registered the first of her three double-doubles with 20 points and 12 rebounds in the then-No. 24 Eagles' 101-49 win over Niagara on Dec. 21. Queenan was a perfect 10-for-10 from the field in the game, and also doled out three assists and blocked a shot. The senior was even more impressive against then-No. 14 Stanford on Wednesday, as she scored a career-high 23 points and pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds as Boston College knocked off the Cardinal, 77-69. Queenan was 7-for-13 from the field, and went 1-for-3 from beyond the arc. She was also 8-for-9 from the free throw line. The forward capped her week by matching her career high with 23 points in a 73-54 win over Colgate on Saturday. She also pulled down 10 rebounds for her fourth straight double-double, and seventh of the season. Queenan was 10-for-18 from the field, and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. She also blocked a pair of shots.
For the week, Queenan was 27-for-41 from the floor (65.9 percent) and 11-for-13 from the free throw line (84.6 percent). She averaged 22.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, and dished out four assists and blocked four shots in the three games. The award is the first of Queenan's career, and makes her the first Boston College player to earn ACC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors. The Eagles, who are now ranked 19th in the AP poll, are in their first season of competition in the ACC.
The 19th-ranked Eagles (12-2/0-0 ACC) will host No. 6 Maryland Thursday nightn in their first ACC game.
