Men's Skiing Finishes Fourth at UConn Carnival

CRANMORE, N.H. - The Boston College men's ski team finished fourth in the giant slalom portion of the UConn Carnival on Saturday, Jan. 13. The Eagles placed two skiers in the top eight in Cranmore, N.H.
Senior Andy Wallman raced to a seventh-place overall finish, posting times of 35.91 seconds and 35.04. Junior Greg Avallon finished eighth overall, finishing the first run in 35.65 seconds and the second in 34.45.
BC placed six skiers in the top 25 out of 82 overall entries. Freshman Andrew Simmons and junior Thatcher Merrill finished 17th and 18th, respectively. Sophomore Shawn Radman and senior Peter Bing finished 23rd and 24th, respectively.
"The men were close, and since they are all very capable of skiing faster, I look forward to them moving up in the races to come," head coach Peter Endres said. "Consistency in finishing was a great accomplishment in the giant slalom."
The Eagles finished with a total time of 359.80 seconds, as Colby/Sawyer College took first place (354.42 seconds). The University of Massachusetts came in second, Plymouth State finished third and Babson College rounded out the top five.
The slalom event of the UConn Carnival, slated for Sunday, Jan. 14, was postponed due to inclement weather. The slalom competition has been rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 5.
BC returns to the slopes on Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Plymouth State Carnival at Waterville Valley, N.H.
