Sophomore Dan Bertram gave the visiting Eagles a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal at 3:48 of the first period, tipping teammate Brock Bradford's shot from the point past Merrimack goalie Jim Healey. Joe Rooney also assisted on the play.
Despite being outshot 15-7 in the second period, Boyle put the Eagles up by two, scoring with nine seconds to play in the frame after receiving a cross-ice pass from senior Stephen Gionta and beating Healy in a one-on-one situation.
