Women's Soccer Ranks No. 11 in the NSCAA Poll

The women's soccer team moved up to the No. 11 spot in the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, announced on Tuesday. In the NSCAA preseason poll, the Eagles were ranked 16th to start the season. After going 3-0-0 in their first three matches of the 2005 campaign the Eagles moved up five spots. In the regional NSCAA poll the Eagles rank at the No. 1 spot.
In the season opener against Boston University, freshman Caroline Walden scored her first collegiate goal and the eventual game-winner at 38:24 to put the Eagles on top. Kia McNeill added the insurance goal to put the score at 2-0. Arianna Criscione got her first start in net as an Eagle after transferring to BC from UCLA. Criscione made three saves to preserve the shutout.
The Eagles next took on the Holy Cross Crusaders winning by a margin of 2-0. Heather Ferron and Kerri McNicholas provided the goals for the Eagles, while Criscione again held the opponents scoreless with a two save effort.
In the Eagles' third match of their four game homestand they took on the Sacred Heart Pioneers and won by a 2-0 score. McNeill tallied the game-winner at 15:07, while Tara Luciani provided the insurance goal which marked her first of the season.
On Sunday, Sept. 11 the Eagles play host to the Harvard Crimson (2-0-0) at 3:30 p.m. The Eagles make their first road trip three days later when they travel to Brown University on Wednesday for a mid-week game at 7:00.
