Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The women's soccer team moved up one spot in the NSCAA weekly rankings announced today. The Eagles are now eighth in the nation, marking the highest ranking ever, after holding the ninth spot for the previous two weeks.
This past week the Eagles went 1-0-1. They won their first-ever ACC contest at Clemson, 2-1, and took the Northeastern Huskies into double overtime, 0-0.
In other rankings, the Eagles are 10th in the weekly Soccer Buzz Magazine rankings and ninth in the Soccer America poll.
The Eagles traveled to Clemson, S.C. to take on the Tigers on Sunday, Sept. 25, and came away with a 2-1 win. Goals from sophomore Kia McNeill and senior Katie McGregor rallied the Eagles to victory. Junior goalkeeper Arianna Criscione had a five-save effort on the day.
Boston College has out-shot their opponents 147-44 in total shots, and 64-21 in shots on goal. The Eagles also hold the edge in corner kicks, 47-16. In eight games, the Eagles have allowed only one goal. Currently, Boston College is also the only team in the Atlantic Coast Conference that has not incurred a yellow card.
On Friday, Sept. 30 the Eagles will host Duke University, matching up the eighth-ranked Eagles with the ninth-ranked Blue Devils. Kick off is set for 4:00 at the Newton Campus Field.
