CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College field hockey team took to the new turf field for the first time this afternoon, marking its first "official" step toward claiming its new home.
In their inaugural season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Eagles will have three days to practice on their new field before hosting their first home game on September 4 against Kent State (1:00 p.m.). Before christening the new field, Boston College will travel to Massachusetts (August 30) and Boston University (September 2) to open the 2005 campaign. The Eagles will open ACC play on September 17 when they host Maryland (11:00 a.m.).
In a construction project currently nearing completion at the school's Newton campus, the Astroturf field - located adjacent to Boston College's soccer field - will include a digital scoreboard, a raised press/scoreboard area, a sports lighting system, a 750-seat bleacher area, and surrounding landscaping.
