CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's basketball team will host Maryland on January 5, in its first-ever Atlantic Coast Conference game. In addition, the team will tip-off the 2005-06 campaign with an appearance in the Preseason NIT. The schedule was released today by the school and the conference office.
The non-conference schedule will kick off with the Preseason NIT, as the Eagles host Drexel on November 11. Other members of the 16-team field (and potential opponents for BC) include Richmond, Hampton, and Connecticut. The Eagles will also travel to Durham, N.H. for the University of New Hampshire Thanksgiving Tournament. The home slate is highlighted by tilts with Vermont, local rivals Massachusetts and Holy Cross, and nationally-ranked Ohio State and Stanford.
The Eagles will open their ACC home schedule with the January 5 match-up with Maryland. They will face Virginia Tech at Cassell Coliseum in its first conference road game on January 8. Boston College will face Maryland, Miami, and NC State twice each, in home-and-home stands. In addition to those three schools, the Eagles will host Duke, Virginia, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech. They will travel to Clemson, North Carolina, and Florida State.
The ACC Championship will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex March 2-5, 2006.
