Izmir, Turkey - Boston College Head Coach Cathy Inglese and the rest of the United States World University Games continued its perfect play in Izmir, Turkey with a gold medal victory Friday afternoon. Team USA posted a 79-63 victory over Serbia and Montenegro to collect top honors. The team went 7-0 over the course of the tournament.
LSU's Seimone Augustus, the 2003 USA Basketball Female Athlete of the Year, notched a team-high 18 points. UCLA's Lisa Willis finished with 13 points and LSU's Sylvia Fowles scored 12 en route to gold.
The victory ups the USA's record at the World University Games to an all-time record of 82-15. Additionally, the USA women have medaled in 13 of 14 WUG competitions in which they have officially participated. Team USA has won gold six times, silver six times, and bronze once.
