The Boston College field hockey team will be playing its inaugural season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference on a new turf field, currently under construction at the school's Newton campus.
The Astroturf field, located adjacent to Boston College's soccer field, will include a digital scoreboard, a raised press/scoreboard area, a sports lighting system, a 750-seat bleacher area, and surrounding landscaping. The project began on April 19 and is scheduled to be completed on August 5.
Sub-grade and concrete curb anchors are in place, pre-cast block retaining walls are complete, and concrete walkways have been constructed. Landscaping and fencing, bleacher installation, and AstroTurf installation are all slated for the end of July.
The Eagles' first home game is a September 4 contest against Kent State (1:00 p.m.). Boston College will open ACC play on September 17 when the team hosts Maryland (11:00 a.m.).
