Lacrosse Tops Harvard, 13-8

Newton, Mass. - Katherine Wagoner tallied a career-high six points to lead the Boston College women's lacrosse team to a 13-8 victory against Harvard on Wednesday at the Newton Campus Lacrosse Field. Seven different players scored for the Eagles as they won their third straight game and ninth of the season.
BC (9-5) jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead. Jackie Yovankin started the Eagle run at 20:21 when she connected off a pass from Courtney Legath. Wagoner netted her first of the afternoon with a free position goal at 16:49. Less than two minutes later Elizabeth Kadison scored her 19th goal of the season. Wagoner added her second of the BC run at 12:02.
Harvard (2-12) answered with four straight goals of its own to even the score at four with 5:40 remaining in the second half.
At 4:10 Carley St. Lucia gave the Eagles the edge when she notched an unassisted tally.
The Crimson responded at 2:07 on a free position goal to tie the game at five heading into the break.
In the first half, Harvard out-shot BC, 14-13. In goal, Courtney Zwirko stopped six shots on goal for the Eagles, while Kristen Demoreset made four stops for the Crimson.
In the second half, Harvard took its first lead of the day at 24:46 on a free position score.
The Eagles answered with six straight goals. Wagoner sparked the run at 21:22 with her third goal of the game. St. Lucia then followed with a goal off a pass from Wagoner. Susie Breaznell netted her first of the game at 19:28 and Wagoner assisted on the score.
Shauna Culhane continued the BC run at 13:34 when she tallied her 18th goal of the season. Culhane then dished out a pass to Kadison at 12:25 who found the back of the net for her 20th of the season. Breaznell capped off the run with her second of the day at 7:17.
Breaznell completed a hat trick with 3:31 remaining in play when she scored off a pass from Wagoner. The assist is Wagoner's third of the game.
Lizette Blohm scored 27 seconds later after Yovankin found her open in front of the goal. The score is Blohm's 18th of the year.
Harvard added two goals in the final five minutes of regulation, but it was not enough to hold off the Eagles.
Brennan Joyce dominated the draw controls for the Eagles. The sophomore won a game-high six draws. Wagoner and Catharine Saylor led BC in groundballs with three each.
Zwirko made 10 saves for the Eagles and Demorest finished with five stops for the Crimson.
BC will host St. Mary's of California on Sunday, May 1. The Eagles will honor their four seniors before the final home game of the season. The action starts at 1 p.m.
