The second-seeded women's tennis team lost in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament on Friday, falling to No. 3 Syracuse, 4-1, in Tampa, Fla.
Senior Nida Waseem won a pressure-filled match at No. 2 singles, defeating Catherine Zawadzki in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Waseem's victory was BC's only one of the afternoon. Sophomore Lindsey Nash was leading 5-1 in the third set of her match at No. 4 singles but did not finish because Syracuse had already clinched the victory.
BC will face No. 4 St. John's in tomorrow's consolation match.
