
Women's Tennis Wins Big East Showdown

Playing in beautiful conditions, the women's tennis team embraced the weather and won its third consecutive Big East match with a 6-1 victory over Syracuse on Saturday at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
Junior Szilvia Szegedi led the Eagles with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Victoria Vaynberg at No. 1 singles. A battered Szegedi rose to the challenge once again and has now won eight of her last nine matches.
Senior Nida Waseem won her final home match with a dominating performance at No. 2 singles, defeating Catherine Zawadzki, 6-0, 6-2. Classmate Amy Molden also won in straight sets in the No. 6 slot.
Sophomore Lindsey Nash and freshman Gia Nafarrete both won three-set matches for BC (11-8, 3-1). Nash won 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles while Nafarrete won the closest match of the day, 7-6 (3), 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) at No. 5.
BC took two of three doubles matches to win the first point of the afternoon.
The Eagles will travel to Cambridge, Mass. to take on Harvard in the final match of the regular season on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
