Providence, R.I. - Boston College lacrosse goalie Tara McKennett was named Big East Defensive Player of the Week in an announcement made by the conference office on Monday. This is the first time McKennett has earned the weekly accolade.

McKennett made 10 saves in an 11-10 victory over Fairfield on Wednesday, March 2. The junior stopped six shots on goal in the first half and made four saves in the second to lead the Eagles to their first win of the season.

BC (1-0) will travel to Piscataway, N.J. to play Rutgers on Friday at 5 p.m.
