The Boston College women's basketball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive season, earning the seventh seed in the Chattanooga region. The Eagles will take on the No. 10 Houston Cougars on Sunday in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Sunday's game will be the first meeting between the two teams, and the first game for the Eagles (19-9) against a Conference USA opponent since a 69-50 loss to Tulane on Dec. 29, 2002. Houston (19-7) did not face a Big East opponent this season.
BC is 4-1 in NCAA Tournament first-round games and has advanced to the Sweet 16 in each of the past two seasons.
With a victory over Houston, the Eagles will face the winner of second-seeded Duke and 15th-seeded Canisius on Tuesday. BC has had three previous meetings with Duke, getting its only win in a 77-70 matchup in Nov. 1999. The Eagles lost their lone contest against Canisius in 1994.
