Despite its best doubles play of the season, the Boston College women's tennis team dropped its second consecutive match on Friday, losing to Yale, 5-2, in New Haven, Conn.
The loss is BC's second to an Ivy League opponent in as many chances. The Eagles lost to Dartmouth last Sunday, 5-2, ending a nine-game winning streak against Ivy League opponents.
BC junior Szilvia Szegedi and sophomore Lindsey Nash paired together on the doubles court for the first time this season and won a big match at No. 2 doubles. The duo bested Yale's Stephanie White and Olivia Nix, 9-7.
Senior Morgan Landes and freshman Caitlin Arnould improved their doubles record to 5-3, defeating Yale's team at No. 3 doubles, 8-2. The two doubles victories helped the Eagles secure the first point of the match.
The Bulldogs (6-0) bounced back during singles play to take five of the six available points. BC's lone victory came in Nash's straight-set victory in the No. 4 slot. Nash, BC's leader in wins last season, registered her fourth victory of the spring.
Szegedi lost a hard-fought battle at No.1 singles, losing 6-4, 7-6, to Reshmi Srinath. Szegedi had three chances to capture the second set, but Srinath was able to hold her off to claim the victory.
The Eagles are off until March 7 when they travel to Coral Gables, Fla. to take on former Big East rival Miami.
