Glenn Allen, Va. - Five different Boston College field hockey players earned a spot on the 2004 NFHCA Division I Academic All-America squad as announced recently by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). For two of the five players, it was a repeat honor. Three players were newly-named to the squad. In addition, the Boston College team was one of 52 teams to be nationally recognized for excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
Representing the Eagles are Julia Berkowitz (Amherst, Mass.) Mary DeFilippo (Wellesley, Mass.), Bronwen Kelly (Mississauga, Ontario), Lauren Schultz (New Milford, Conn.), and Caitlyn Young (Manahawkin, N.J.).
Schultz is a four-time honoree to the Academic All-America squad. She is the first Eagle to gain the honor for four consecutive seasons. Kelly was an All-BIG EAST first team selection, helping the Eagles to a 17-6 mark this past fall.
