Deveny Named To Academic All-District Squad

ATLANTA, Ga. - Boston College senior guard Jessalyn Deveny (Westford, Mass.) was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Women's Basketball District I Team. As announced by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA), Deveny is named one of 10 players to the All-District Region 1 squad.
Deveny, whose season was cut short by a season-ending ruptured Achilles heel, was leading the team with 17.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. A Preseason All-BIG EAST selection, she led the team in scoring 11 times and in rebounding six times. She scored in double figures 16 of 18 times and had five 20+ games and one 30+ game.
Deveny finished her career with 1,496 points (tied for fifth) and 551 rebounds (10th). She had 76 career double digit scoring games (out of 102 games played), 25 20+ games, two 30+ games, and seven double-doubles.
Joining Deveny on the District 1 team are Lindsay Adams (New Hampshire), Lisa Andrews (Holy Cross), Lani Boardman (Vermont), and Reka Cserny (Harvard). The second team is comprised of Joy Gallagher (Wagner), Sarah Hayes (Brown), Brittany Keil (Holy Cross), Kristin Keller (Marist), and Jessica Stevens (Canisius).
Each of the five first-team members will advance to the national ballot.
