
Women's Tennis Defeats Cornell, 7-0

The women's tennis team had its most complete effort of the season on Saturday morning, cruising past Cornell, 7-0, at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
The Eagles (2-2) dropped just two of 13 sets in singles play and swept all three doubles matches. Both BC wins this season have been against Ivy League teams. The Eagles defeated Columbia, 4-3, last weekend.
Junior Szilvia Szegedi won handily at No. 1 singles, defeating Cornell's Akane Kokubo - 6-1, 6-3. Szegedi has now won two-thirds of her career singles matches at Boston College, sporting a 32-16 lifetime record.
Senior co-captain Nida Waseem won her first singles match of the spring in the No. 2 slot, besting Kasia Preneta - 6-3, 7-5. Szegedi and Waseem won at No.1 doubles, 8-6, and improved their season's record to 7-6.
Morgan Landes and Gia Nafarrete won at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively, and are tied for the team lead in singles victories with six.
Freshman Caitlin Arnould made her spring debut at No. 3 doubles, teaming with Landes to upend Cornell's duo - 9-7.
The Eagles host Big East rival Notre Dame on Sunday at 10 a.m.
