Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Freshman goaltender Johanna Ellison has earned Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors. This is the second time this season Ellison had been honored by the Hockey East. Ellison has also earned the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.
Ellison stopped 37 of 38 shots faced in the Eagles' tie with the Yale Bulldogs on Sunday in New Haven Conn. Ellison was steadfast as a relentless Yale offense kept coming up with big shots throughout the game. Ellison had 13 saves in the third period alone and came up with five more in the overtime period.
Ellison now stands at 1-1-2 on the season with a .926 save percentage. Ellison has 125 saves in four games played and 2.41 goals against average.
Also making the Hockey East honor roll this week is sophomore Sarah Feldman. Feldman scored the Eagles' two goals in their 3-2 loss to Dartmouth on Tuesday night. Both goals came on the power play and Feldman is now tied for a team-high five goals on the season with classmate Deborah Spillane and freshman Becky Zavisza.
The Eagles now 3-2-4 overall and 2-1-1 in Hockey East play return home on Saturday to take on the University of Connecticut Huskies. The puck drops at 1 p.m.
