NEWTON, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball Head Coach Cathy Inglese is one of 17 people to be honored by the New Agenda Hall of Fame, as recently announced by the organization. All award-winners will be honored at a luncheon on November 6 at the Woodland Golf Club in Newton, Massachusetts.
Inglese was selected based on her lifetime contributions to women's athletics as well as her outreach into the community. The New Agenda: Northeast was founded to provide an opportunity for women in sports to gather annually to determine the future direction for women's sport and fitness in America and to develop a plan for the future of women's sport.
Inglese has compiled a 338-213 overall record in 19 years of coaching. In her 13th season at the helm of the Eagles, she will enter the 2005-06 season with a 218-139 record after having led BC to its first-ever BIG EAST Women's Basketball Championship in 2003-04. Prior to her current post, she was head coach at University of Vermont, where she amassed a 120-74 record in seven years, including back-to-back undefeated regular seasons (1991-92 and 1992-93).
Inglese has been named conference coach of the year four times, by two different leagues. She is also a three-time finalist for National Coach of the Year. In addition, Inglese has been inducted into seven different basketball halls of fame.
