Spillane Named Hockey East Player of the Week

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Sophomore forward Deborah Spillane was named Co-Player of the Week, Hockey East announced on Monday. Spillane has totaled five points in two games, including the overtime game-winning goal against Quinnipiac on Friday night.
The Eagles went 2-0 this weekend, including a win over Hockey East opponent Maine, which makes the Eagles, 1-0 in league play.
In BC's season opener over Quinnipiac, Spillane netted her first two goals of the season and added an assist on the night. Although she did not score a goal in the team's Hockey East opener against Maine on Sunday, she did assist on two of the Eagle's five goals.
Spillane is currently tied for second place with Maine's Cheryl White in the Hockey East standings.
Also garnering recognition this week are freshmen Meghan Fardelmann and Becky Zavisza. Fardelmann scored a goal in both wins for the Eagles this week. Zavisza notched the game-winning goal in Sunday's game against Maine and also added another goal to make it 5-3 Eagles over the Black Bears.
The Eagles (2-0-0, 1-0-0 HE) play Boston University in the first-ever varsity meeting between the two teams on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
