Men's Track Finishes Second At Terrier Cup

Boston College had many of its athletes qualify for the Big East and New England Championships on Saturday afternoon as the men's track team earned a second-place finish at the Terrier Cup at the Boston University Pavilion.
Senior Drew Bouchard turned in the Eagles' fastest mile time of the season, winning the event in 4:15.90. With the time, Bouchard becomes eligible for the Big East and New England Championship meets at the season's end.
Classmate Geoff Atkins had an impressive day, running a season-best 49.58 in the 400-meter dash and also qualifying for the Big East and New England Championships.
Freshman Patrick Mellea qualified for the championship events in the 1,000-meters, finishing third with a time of 2:28.13. In addition, Mellea also qualified for the IC4A championships. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Atkins and freshmen Frank DiVittorio, Connor Farrell and Daniel LaFave, also qualified for the Big East and New England Championships with a time of 3:21.90.
Senior co-captain Ashley Jefferson won multiple events for the second consecutive meet for the Eagles. Jefferson won the 55-meter dash with a season-best time of 6.62 seconds. The Newton, Mass. native also claimed victory in the triple jump with a mark of 13.29 meters. Jefferson finished third in the long jump behind athletes from Sacred Heart and BU.
Sophomore Louis Canelli won the high jump event and senior Jason Mayer won the pole vault with a mark of 4.10-meters, the best vault of the season for BC.
The Eagles return to action on Friday afternoon at the Northeastern Invitational.
