September 07, 2004 | Women's Soccer
Sept. 7, 2004
This weekend the Eagles will travel to Wisconsin to take on the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee on Friday at 4 p.m. BC continues on to Madison to take on the University of Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday at 1 p.m. BC is coming off of two shutout victories over Holy Cross and University of Hartford.
Returning home are goalkeeper Kate Taylor and midfielder Heather Ferron. Taylor hails from Menomonee Falls and attended the University School of Milwaukee. Ferron attended Brookfield Central High School in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Picking up two wins in their home state would be great for the pair.
The Eagles will work to preserve this momentum as they head into their first BIG EAST match a week from Friday against Villanova.
Scouting Report for Wisconsin Trip:
University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee: Milwaukee was tabbed to win the Horizon League in their preseason coaches' poll. At this point in the season, the Panthers are 1-2-1. Their win came against unranked South Dakota State in front of nearly 600 fans. The most notable game for UWM was against the #17 Kansas Jayhawks. Kansas went up by a goal early and the Panthers played tough all game. However, Milwaukee ended up losing the game 1-0.
UWM is 0-1-0 at home and the Eagles look to keep them winless. In terms of statistics, the Eagles are out-shooting the Panthers by over 10 shots per game. Keeping the pressure on a defense wrought with a mixture of experience and youth will be a focus for BC in this game.
University of Wisconsin- Madison: This game will prove to be a good test for BC. The Badgers have some momentum as they are coming off last week's overtime victory against Baylor to win the Nike Tiger Invitational tournament. The Badgers now stand at 4-0-0 with two 2004 tournament victories under their belt.
The Badgers are yet to play a home game this season. They will host North Dakota State on Friday for their home opener and then BC on Sunday. Madison has allowed almost as many shots as they have taken per game. Therefore, the relentless Eagle offensive attack that has been present in their first three games will prove to be important in this contest.
