The Boston College volleyball team beat cross-town rival Northeastern 3-1 on the road tonight. The Eagles have won three straight matches to bring them to 4-2 on the season. The Eagles looked strong from the start. They dominated the first game, taking it from the Huskies 30-18. Alison Shepp helped BC run away with game one as she attacked the ball very well throughout the match. Shepp had 14 kills on the night for an impressive .303 attacking percentage. In game two the teams battled back and forth for the lead. The Eagles found themselves down 20-12 quickly, but consistent play by Allison Anderson and Verena Rost helped them pull within two at 26-24. Anderson registered a double-double with 10 kills and 19 digs, while Rost had 40 assists and 13 digs. Although BC put forth a solid effort, it wouldn't be enough as Northeastern took the game 30-25. BC rebounded in game three by going on a 6-2 run at 14-14 to jump ahead of the Huskies 20-16. Katie Andersen led the Eagle resurgence as she recorded two straight kills to give BC the game 30-26. She had a double-double with 16 kills and 13 digs in the match and she also completed three block assists. There was no looking back in game four for BC. The Huskies were able to keep it close, but key blocks by Andersen and Morgan Woodcock down the stretch helped seal the victory for the Eagles. Woodcock had a big night defensively as she posted seven block assists. BC went on to take game four by a score of 30-26. The Eagles will look to continue their winning ways in their home opener Friday, September 10. BC will host Texas Christian University at 2 p.m. and Saint Peter's College at 8 p.m. at the Power Gym in the New England Challenge tournament.
