Providence, R.I. - Boston College juniors Sabrina Lazzari (Weston, Mass.) and Kristen Madden (Concord, N.H.) were the first 2004 honorees for the BIG EAST Conference, claiming Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. As announced Monday, the pair is the first Eagles to be so honored by the conference office. Lazzari scored five of her team's 15 goals on a 3-0 week. She netted her first career hat trick with three goals in a 6-0 win over Radford and came back a day later to score two more goals in a 6-0 win over Vermont. Madden anchored a defense that allowed just one goal in three games and posted two shutout victories. In addition, she chipped in on the offensive end with six points on her first three goals of the season. The first STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll of the season is slated to come on September 14. This week, the Eagles will host Virginia (Friday at 7:00 p.m.) and Boston University (Sunday at 3:00 p.m.). Both games will be played at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass.
