Field Hockey Debuts At No. 12 In First National Poll

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - According to the first poll released Tuesday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the Boston College field hockey team is the 12th best in the nation. Receiving 207 points, the Eagles debut in the 12-spot marks the highest ranking in the last year.
In addition, the first compilation of national statistics was posted Tuesday, showing Boston College and several players ranked in top categories. BC, as a team, is 12th in scoring defense (1.16), 10th in scoring offense (3.49), and 10th in margin of victory (+2.33).
Junior Sabrina Lazzari (Weston, Mass.) is 13th in points (16), ninth in goals (8), 14th in points per game (2.667), and ninth in goals per game (1.333). Finally, junior goalkeeper Jillian Savoy (Lexington, Mass.) is eighth in save percentage (.811) and 19th in saves (30).
The Eagles will face No. 8 Northeastern (6-0) Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.
