Waltham, Mass. -- The Boston College field hockey team had its three-game win streak halted by ACC foe Virginia Friday night, losing a 4-3 see-saw battle at the Bentley College Turf Field in Waltham, Mass. With the loss, Boston College falls to 3-2 on the season. The Cavaliers are 4-1.
Virginia took the lead on four different occasions while Boston College tied the game three different times. The Cavaliers' final goal at the 2:54 mark went unanswered by the Eagles for the final 4-3 margin. After each scoring a single goal in the first half, the two teams combined to score five goals within the final 12:26 of action in a heated back-and-forth scoring battle.
Sabrina Lazzari (Weston, Mass.), Bronwen Kelly (Mississauga, Ontario), and Sara York (Watertown, Mass.) each netted a goal for the Eagles. All three of BC's goals came on the penalty corner play. Virginia's Allie Flynn collected a pair of goals while Katie Phillips chipped in with a goal and an assist, including the game-winning goal.
The Eagles return to action Sunday when they host cross-town rival Boston University at 3:00 p.m. Virginia and Quinnipiac will play at 1:00 p.m.
