Women's Track Takes Third, Men Sixth At UNH Invitational

DURHAM, N.H. - Senior Julie Spolidoro (Duxbury, Mass.) was victorious in the 5000 and Boston College's women's track and field team took home five first-place performances at the UNH Invitational on Saturday, April 24.
The Eagles placed third overall with 156.33 team points. Host UNH, who sat atop both women's and men's team rankings, amassing 175.66 total points with UMass taking second with 165. BC's men's team placed sixth.
Freshman Kasey Hill (Montgomery Centre, Vt.) ran away with the 100-meter hurdles clocking 14.27. She also placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.39.
In the field events, the women's team earned the top performance in three events. Jessica Fazekas (Closter, N.J.) won the shot put with a toss of 13.44m and placed second in the discus throwing 39.72m. Megan Mara (Avon, Conn.) cleared 3.30m to capture the pole vault, and Allison Castaldi (Marblehead, Mass.) was victorious is the triple jump with her leap of 11.22m.
On the men's side, freshman Louis Canelli (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) cleared 1.90m and won the high jump and Keith Normant (Needham, Mass.) turned in three top-five performances. The senior placed third in the triple jump (13.62m), fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.50), and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.76).
The men's 4x100-meter relay team toured the course in 42.99 which was good enough second overall.
The UNH invitational served as the final tune-up before championship competition. Both squads will head to Piscataway, N.J. for the BIG EAST outdoor championships Friday, April 30 through Sunday, May 2.
