CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College field hockey team will once again play host to the annual Mercian Cup Collegiate Spring League. Last season, the Eagles won the first Northeast Series and will look to defend their crown during a busy spring season. Already this spring, Boston College has fine-tuned its preparation by hosting and winning an 8 vs. 8 tournament.
The Mercian Cup Collegiate Spring League was designed to allow college teams to train in a truly competitive off-season environment. The teams benefit from real-game coaching and real-game play, developing the desire and spirit to win and compete as a team.
The Northeast Series is scheduled to begin on April 4 and run through April 18. Boston College will host the action on opening weekend. For more information regarding the league, including complete schedule and results, please visit www.mercian-cup.com.
In addition to their play with Boston College, several players have participated in U.S. field hockey programs this winter and summer. Sara York (Watertown, Mass.) is a member of the Under-21 national squad and is currently practicing in Virginia Beach. Kristen Madden (Concord, N.H.) is an alternate for the squad while York, Madden, and Meg Palisoul (Bethesda, Md.) all participated in A-camp this past December.
