Men's Tennis Falls To Drake, Denver

DENVER, Colo. - Justin Slattery (Hampton, N.H.) defeated Felipe Montenegro of Drake, 6-4, 7-6, then knocked-off 63rd-ranked Nejc Smole of Denver in straights sets, 7-6, 6-3, to earn his sixth and seventh singles victories in the last eight matches and pace Boston College in a 4-1 loss to Drake and a 6-1 loss to the University of Denver at Meadow Creek Raquet Club on Friday, March 5.
The two losses drops the Eagles' record to 3-8.
In the second match of the day, Denver won the doubles' point and swept all three matches. Slattery and Chris McCoy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) fell to Smole and Viktor Zetterholm of Denver, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles. Ross Pytko (Oxford, Mass.) and Paul Colahan (Beverly, Mass.) were defeated by Hans Peter Gaber and Niki Popovic, 8-5 at No. 2, while Soma Kesthely (Budapest, Hungary) and Derrick Chou (Great Neck, N.Y.) dropped their match to Urban Ljubic and Jason Tan, 8-3 at No. 3.
In the first match, Drake captured three of four singles matches played and the match was called with Drake ahead, 4-1. Slattery paced the Eagles with the lone victory.
