CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team fell to Hofstra, 15-9, Sunday, at Alumni Stadium. The Eagles suffered only their second loss in six games this season (4-2) while the Pride lifted their record above .500 (3-2).
The two teams traded goals in the first half, including a late score by Hofstra's Mary Romano, which raised the visitors up one at 4-3 in the final minute of play; but BC responded when junior midfielder Carley St. Lucia (Delmar, N.Y.) found the back of the net with one tick on the clock to knot the score at four heading into the lockerroom.
Sophomore midfielder Heather Albro paced Hofstra in the second half; scoring all four of her goals in the final 17:47 of regulation to front the Pride's 11-goal production for the half.
The Eagles' Justine Burr (Northport, N.Y.) posted a free position goal at 20:15 of the second half to inch the hosts within one at 7-6 before Hofstra then rattled off five unanswered goals before junior Courtney Legath's (Moorestown, N.Y.) goal at 12:09 halted the Pride Run. That tally was her 10th of the season and the 99th point of her career.
BC's Susie Breaznell (Delmar, N.Y.) scored twice and added an assist in the second half. Her first goal at the 9:15 mark was her 100th career point and 14th career goal while the attack forward also scored BC?s last goal of the game at 1:29.
Hofstra goaltender Lisa Papa had 10 saves in nets while her BC counterpart, Tara McKennett (Garden City, N.Y.) made eight.
BC plays at New Hampshire, Wednesday, March 24. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
