Providence, R.I. - Boston College freshman point guard Sarah Marshall (Falmouth, Me.) was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Monday morning after her solid effort over the last week. The honor is her first selection of the season. It marks the first time that an Eagles has been so honored by the conference office and the fifth time that a player has earned a weekly honor.
In a week that saw BC capture two road wins, Marshall averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in wins over St. John's and Syracuse. In her first two collegiate starts, Marshall hit 10-of-17 field goal attempts (including 3-for-4 from three-point range) and a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line.
In an 86-68 win at St. John's, Marshall registered her first career double-double with 13 points and 10 assists, both career highs. She also contributed six rebounds.
The Eagles (20-6/10-5 BIG EAST) host Georgetown Tuesday night in the final regular season game of the year. The game marks senior night for Amber Jacobs and Maureen Leahy. The Eagles will then travel to Hartford, Conn. for the BIG EAST Tournament March 6-9 at the Hartford Civic Center.
