Swimmers and Divers Conclude Action at BIG EAST Championships

The Boston College men and women's swimming and diving team concluded action at the 2004 BIG EAST Championships, Saturday, Feb. 21, held at the Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, N.Y. The men finished 10th of 12 teams while the women were ninth of 12.
Freshman Carolyn Bowman (Cheshire, Conn.) lowered her preliminary time of 2:22.09 in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:21.18 effort for second in the consolation heat and 10th overall.
Sophomore Torey Thelin (Darien, Conn.) established her second individual school record, clocking 2:02.97 in the 200-yard butterfly for first in the consolation heat and ninth overall. She swam 2:04.67 in the morning heats of that event.
Junior Tim Tully (New Rochelle, N.Y.) matched his school record-setting performance of 1:52.44 in the finals of the 200-yard butterfly, originally established in the preliminary heat, landing him 10th overall and second in the consolation heat.
BC?s 400-yard free relay group of Thelin, Juliet Paradine (Garden City, N.Y.), Kim Garcia (Denver, Colo.) and Michelle Lane (Kentwood, Mich.) was 12th overall with a time of 3:39.53. The men's unit of Tully, Andy Faughnan (Aberdeen, N.J.), Andrew Naumann (Tucson, Ariz.), and Matt Northrup (Fayetteville, N.Y.) ended up 11th, swimming 3:12.58.
The swimmers and divers compete at the ECAC Championships, Feb. 27 ? 29 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
