Women's Swimming And Diving Downs Fordham

The Boston College women's swimming and diving team hosted it first meet of the season on Friday night. The Eagles topped Fordham University 167.5-132.5 to earn their fourth win of the season.
BC got going early with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Mari Wunschel, Nikoll Julien, Carolyn Bowman, and Holly Boucher took home the victory with a time of 1:51.69.
In the 100 backstroke, Tanya Suryoutomo finished first in a time of 1:00.20. The freshman swam very strong throughout the meet with another win in the 200 backstroke. Suryoutomo took the event in a time of 2:11.31.
The Eagles continued to dominate in the breaststroke events. In the 100, Julien touched the wall first with a time of 1:07.87. Classmate, Boucher finished second at 1:10.76. Carolyn Bowman controlled the 200 with a victory in a time of 2:25.78, while Julien finished second in a time 2:29.78.
BC gained more points in the sprint freestyle events. The Eagles completed the 100 with a one-two punch. Elizabeth Byron won in a time of 53.43 and Elizabeth Snyder came in second at 55.70. In the 50, Byron finished second with a time of 25.04 and Snyder touched just behind her at 25.15.
The Eagles took another first place finish in the 200 butterfly. Bowman earned her second win of the meet with a time of 2:09.09. Katie Barry and Kari Sveum rounded out the top-four with third and fourth place finishes respectively.
In diving, the Eagles continued to extend their lead over Fordham. Jennifer Rhines and Maeve Brennan finished first and second respectively in both the one and three meter events.
BC (4-1) will look to earn its fifth win of the season when it hosts Rhode Island on Sunday, November 7 at 1 p.m.
