
Men's Swimming And Diving Drops Home Opener

The Boston College men's swimming and diving team dropped its first home meet of the season on Friday night. The Eagles fell to Fordham University 166.5-130.5 to bring them to 3-2 on the season.
BC got on the board with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Tim Tully, Brandon Twichell, Thomas Martz, and Matt Northrup finished just behind Fordham with a time of 1:37.97.
William Schwitter and Joseph Maloy contributed for the Eagles in the 1000 freestyle. The freshmen took second and third place finishes respectively in the event (10:20.46 and 10:21.84).
Tim Tully had an impressive meet for BC. The senior won the 200 butterfly and 200 backstroke in times of 1:57.43 and 1:58.32 respectively. Tully also swam well in the 200 individual medley with a second place finish at 1:59.95.
The Eagles controlled the sprint freestyle events. In the 50, Northrup took home the victory at 22.61, while Andrew Faughnan and Martz finished third and fourth respectively (22.91 and 22.99). BC finished one-two in the 100, with Faughnan earning the win in a time of 49.38 and Martz finishing second at 49.98.
David Herman dominated the middle-distance races for the Eagles. The senior won the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:57.58 and came in second in the 200 at 148.50.
In the breaststroke events, the Eagles continued to swim well. Brandon Twichell hit the wall second in both the 100 and 200 with times of 1:00.97 and 2:11.47 respectively. David Lin finished third in the 100 at 1:03.63 while Michael Moore came in third in the 200 at 2:18.69.
Christopher Wilson-Byrne competed in the one-meter dive for BC and took a second place finish with 209.25 points.
BC (3-2) will host Rhode Island at home on Sunday, November 7 at 1 p.m.
