
Women's Swimming And Diving Splits Weekend Road Trip

The Boston College women's swimming and diving team headed to Princeton and Central Connecticut this weekend. The Eagles dropped their first meet on Saturday to Princeton 225-73, but rebounded on Sunday when they beat the Blue Devils 173.5-124.5.
In the first meet against Princeton, junior Nikoll Julien was named outstanding performer for the Eagles. She won a pair of 200 yard events, the breaststroke and the individual medley. In the breaststroke, Julien dominated the event finishing in 2:29.15, two seconds ahead of the second place finisher. She also finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke.
Freshman Mari Wunschel had BC's outstanding performance in the 100 yard backstroke. She finished in a time of 1:01.02, .75 seconds behind the winner of the heat. Elizabeth Byron took third in the event with a time of 1:01.37.
The Eagles placed second in two relay events. Tanya Suryoutomo, Carolyn Bowman, Byron and Elizabeth Snyder comprised the team that finished second in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.42. Byron and Snyder also helped the Eagles earn second place points in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Megan Hurd and Holly Boucher made up the other half of that relay team who finished in a time of 1:38.95.
In their second meet of the weekend, the Eagles earned their sixth win of the season with a victory over Central Connecticut State. BC topped the Blue Devils 173.5-124.5 on Sunday afternoon.
Byron had a huge meet for the Eagles. The junior set a pool record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.66. Byron also took a first place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.29. Suryoutomo came in behind Byron in the 100 at 54.00 for second place.
In the 200 butterfly, BC's Bowman hit the wall second in a time of 2:09.83. Teammates, Katie Barry and Kari Sveum came in behind Bowman with times of 2:16.56 and 2:17.09, respectively.
Bowman continued to swim strong in two more individual events. The sophomore won the 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley with times of 2:23.67 and 2:10.70, respectively.
Julien also put in solid performances in the breaststroke events. The junior took second place finishes in the 100 and 200 with times of 1:08.62 and 2:29.27, respectively.
BC's divers also contributed to the win. Jennifer Rhines controlled both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with two first place finishes. Maeve Brennan took second in the 1-meter for the Eagles.
BC (6-2) will have its next meet on Saturday, November 20 when the Eagles host Akron.
