Men's Swimming And Diving Downs Providence 179-95

Providence, R.I. - The Boston College men's swimming and diving team topped Providence College on Tuesday evening at Taylor Natatorium. The Eagles won 11 of 16 events to take a 179-85 victory over the Friars.
The 200 meter medley relay team continues to dominate for BC. Tim Tully, Brandon Twichell, Thomas Martz, and Andrew Faughnan controlled the heat with a winning time of 1:50.58.
In the 800 meter freestyle, Daniel Kollar took home the victory at 9:22.70. Teammate, Faughnan finished third in the heat with a time of 9:25.40.
The Eagles took over the sprint freestyle events. Brandon Solorana won the 50 with a time of 26.62 and David Herman finished first in the 100 at 54.89. Herman continued to swim strong in the 200 individual medley with a win in a time of 2:21.50.
BC also dominated the butterfly events by sweeping both the 100 and 200. Michael Dellamano claimed a victory in the 100 at 1:02.19, while Kurt Zwald and John Rybicki finished just behind him at 1:04.18 and 1:08.10, respectively. In the 200, Joseph Maloy won the race with a time of 2:22.97. Craig Lewin and Colin Scott took second and third place finishes at 2:23.14 and 2:25.99, respectively.
Tully had another impressive performance for the Eagles. The senior won the 200 meter backstroke by more than 15 seconds with a time of 2:10.98. Classmate, Twitchell also continued to swim strong with a win in the 200 breaststroke. He took the event by more than 16 seconds with a time of 2:25.48.
The Eagles closed out the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay. The squad of John Rybicki, Mark Fennell, Brian Hill, and Herman touched out the Providence team by .03 seconds to win the heat with a time of 1:45.32.
BC (5-2) will host its next meet of the season on Sunday, November 21. The Eagles will face Tufts at 1 p.m.
