Katie King Prepares For Four Nations Cup

Assistant Coach Katie King (Salem, N.H.) will represent the United States in the 2004 Four Nations Cup starting Nov. 10 as a member of the 2004 U.S. Women's Select Team.
Named to the team on Sept. 30, King is one of 15 women to return from the gold medal-winning 2003 U.S .Women's Select Team. King returns to this year's squad as one of 12 forwards. The Women's Select Team will defend its title against teams from Canada, Sweden and Finland at the Four Nations Cup in Lake Placid, N.Y.
The U.S. hosts the Four Nations Cup for the third time in the tournament's history, and the first time since 2000. Last year, Cammi Granato (Downers Grove, Ill.) scored the game winner in a 12-round shootout to defeat Canada 2-1 and capture a gold medal for the U.S. The 2003 U.S. gold medal was its first since 1997.
Aside from competing in the Four Nations Cup for the Women's Select Team, King competed for the United States in the 1998 and 2002 Olympics. The second-year BC assistant coach received an Olympic gold medal in 1998 and a silver medal in 2002. On the National Team, King took home nine consecutive silver medals in the World Championships (1993-2001).
