Despite dropping its third match of the weekend to St. Joseph's, 5-2, and a disappointing 15th place finish at the ECAC tournament, there were signs of promise for the Boston College men's tennis team.
Sophomore Soma Kesthely and freshman Chris Louis both won two of three singles matches to lead the Eagles. Kesthely, playing in the No. 3 singles position, defeated Princeton's Hans Plukas in the opening round on Friday - 6-4, 7-5. The sophomore dropped his second match against Stony Brook, but bounced back with a dominating win over St. Joseph's A.J. Garabedian - 6-3, 6-2.
The Eagles also saw great things from Louis, playing just the second tournament of his college career. Louis, competing in the No. 6 singles position, won a 2-6, 6-4, (10-7), decision over Princeton's Shannon Morales in Friday's 5-2 defeat. The freshman registered a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Stony Brook's Matthew Jacobson the following day in another 5-2 loss. Louis lost his match against St. Joseph's on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles will play in the ITA Regional Individual Invitational on Oct. 21-24 in Blacksburg, Va.
