The Boston College women's ice hockey team fell to Dartmouth (1-0-0) this afternoon in Hanover, N.H. Deborah Spillane scored for the Eagles in the 7-1 loss to the Big Green.
In the opening period, Dartmouth got on the board first. Charlie Piper scored an even-handed goal and Katherine Weatherston netted a power-play goal to give the Big Green a 2-0 edge going into the second stanza.
The Eagles looked to capitalize halfway through the second on a holding penalty called on Dartmouth. Spillane was able to connect on the power-play opportunity for her first goal of the season at 9:04. Sarah Feldman fed Spillane for her team-leading sixth point of the year. The line of Spillane, Feldman, and Colleen Harris continues to be the most productive for the Eagles. The freshmen trio has combined for seven goals on the season. Dartmouth added one more goal at the end of the period to give them a 3-1 lead.
In the final period, Alison Quandt had a solid performance for BC stopping 14 of 18 shots she faced. The junior completed 26 saves on the day. The Big Green proved to be too strong in the third by adding four more goals to seal the 7-1 victory.
The Eagles (0-5-0, 0-1-0) will continue their weekend road trip tomorrow at 4 p.m. against the University of Vermont.
