Women's Basketball Picked To Finish Third In BIG EAST

Boston College was chosen to finish third in the 2004-05 BIG EAST Women's Basketball preseason poll. The poll was determined by a vote of the league's head coaches at the conference's annual Media Day in Newark, N.J., on October 28. Connecticut was picked to finish first with Notre Dame picked second.
Senior guard Jessalyn Deveny was selected to the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team, while sophomore forward Kathrin Ress earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
The 2004 BIG EAST Tournament's Most Outstanding Performer, Deveny comes off a stellar junior season in which she was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team. She led the Eagles in scoring for the second straight season, averaging 16.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Deveny was selected as a BIG EAST Academic All-Star last year.
Ress came on strong for the Eagles at the end of last season as she was named to the BIG East All-Tournament Team. She averaged 9.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per outing. The Salorno, Italy native was also a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
Coming off the school's first-ever BIG EAST Championship and a second straight Sweet-16 appearance, the Eagles have been ranked as high as #7 in some national preseason polls. They return three starters and 10 letter-winners.
The Eagles open up play on November 20 when they travel to East Lansing, Mich., for the Spartan Classic. BC will play Western Michigan in the opening round.
