Volleyball Falls To Seton Hall

Seton Hall snapped Boston College's 10-game win streak today at the Power Gym. The Eagles fell to the Pirates 3-1 (36-38, 34-32, 30-17, 30-25) in BIG EAST action. Dorota Niemczewska led the Eagles for the second straight match with 25 kills.
The two teams were tied at 19 different points in the opening game. Tied at 15, Kristin Whalley took over from the backcourt with her serve. The Eagles won five straight points to take the 19-15 lead on one of Katie Andersen's 11 kills on the day. The Pirates fought back and tied the score back up at 25. The two teams continued to exchange point for point until tied at 36, Seton Hall committed a setting error. Abigail Hasebroock then captured the game for the Eagles with a key block. The freshman recorded two blocks on the day.
In the second game the Eagles found themselves down early. Trailing 20-13, the Eagles battled back with three straight kills. Dorota Niemczewska put down one of her eight kills in the game to cut the deficit to 20-16 for BC.
Later in game, BC trailed 28-24. Niemczewska dominated with her serve as the Eagles earned five unanswered points. Kelsey Johnson slammed down a pass from Kristin Kenney to give BC the 29-28 edge. Johnson had another impressive performance with 19 kills in the match, while Kenney recorded 69 assists on the day. The Pirates would tie the score three more times. Tied at 32, Seton Hall won the final two points on a kill and an attacking error by BC to take game two.
After dropping the third game 30-17, the Eagles looked to regain their control in game four. Tied at 15, Lia Krautmanis gave the Eagles a lead with one of her four kills on the day. This would be the last lead of the game for BC as the Pirates won the final game 30-25.
BC (17-8, 3-1) will continue its play in the BIG EAST next weekend. The Eagles travel to Pittsburgh to face the Pirates on Saturday, October 30 at 2 p.m.
