
Volleyball Blanks Quinnipiac 3-0

The Boston College volleyball team topped Quinnipiac 3-0 tonight on the road for its ninth consecutive win. Alison Shepp led the Eagles offensively with 13 kills, while Allison Anderson controlled the defense with 18 digs.
In the opening game, Quinnipiac jumped out to a quick 10-6 lead. The Eagles fought back to tie the game up at 11 off one of Shardai Davis' four kills on the night. BC went on a five-point unanswered run to grab a 16-12 lead. The two teams would be tied four more times in the game, until BC ran away with a lead at 24-23. Lia Krautmanis put down one of her six kills to grab game one for the Eagles. BC took the game 30-26.
BC continued to dominate in game two. The Eagles never trailed and won the game 30-21. The team completed 21 kills on 41 attempts for an impressive attacking percentage of .341. Shepp put in another solid performance for the Eagles with 13 kills on 22 attempts for a remarkable attacking percentage of .455. The sophomore committed only three attacking errors on the night. BC won the second game 30-21.
The Eagles never lost their control and won the final game 30-22. BC kept attacking the ball very well. The team committed only four errors in game four and attacked the ball at a .405 hitting percentage. Katie Andersen showed her ability to play effective offense and defense. The senior registered 10 kills, nine digs, and three block assists in the match. Morgan Woodcock also had a strong match with six kills and three block assists on the night.
BC continues to earn recognition in the RichKern.com/AVCA Division I Regional Ranking. The Eagles maintained their seventh-place ranking from last week in this week's northeast region ranking. The RichKern.com/AVCA Division I Region Ranking takes into consideration the Rich Kern Percentage Index (RKPI) of all Division I teams, then ranks each region based on the overall ranking.
The Eagles (16-7, 2-0) will look to capture their tenth straight win on Friday when they host BIG EAST rival Rutgers at 7 p.m. This will be the second time that BC has faced the Scarlet Knights this season. On October 1 at the BIG EAST Challenge, the Eagles defeated Rutgers 3-1.
