Providence, R.I. - Boston College juniors Sabrina Lazzari (Weston, Mass.) and Kristen Madden (Concord, N.H.) were honored by the BIG EAST Conference as the BIG EAST Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. As announced Monday, the pair is the fourth and fifth Eagle to be so honored by the conference office. Both Lazzari and Madden have twice been honored this year.
Lazzari tallied seven points to lead BC to two wins this past week. She netted one goal in her team's BIG EAST win over Villanova and added two goals and an assist in a 3-0 non-conference win over Fairfield. Lazzari collected her fifth multiple-goal game of the season. Madden helped her team earn its sixth shutout of the season with its blanking of Fairfield. In addition, she provided some offense with her seventh assist of the season.
Boston College is ranked 12th in the first STX/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll of the season. This week, the Eagles will travel to Harvard (Wednesday) and wrap up the BIG EAST schedule at Rutgers (Saturday). They will return home on October 28, when they host New Hampshire.
