PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Jackie Yovankin (Medford, N.J.) was named to the 2004 All-BIG EAST women's lacrosse squad and Boston College was selected to finish sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll, as picked by the coaches, the league announced on Tuesday.
Yovankin, a solid defender who led the nation with 89 groundballs in 2003, was an All-BIG EAST second-team selection last season.
Georgetown got the nod for the top spot after winning the 2003 BIG EAST championship with its third straight 6-0 mark. The Hoyas received six first-place votes from the league's seven head coaches. Syracuse garnered one first-place vote and was tabbed second, followed by Notre Dame, Rutgers and Connecticut.
Head Coach Shari Krasnoo returns for her fourth season at the helm of the women's lacrosse program. The Eagles welcome back 17 members from last year's 9-6 team.
Boston College gets its season underway Thursday, March 4 at Stony Brook.
