The National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) released the 2003 NSCAA/adidas Women's NCAA Division I All-Region teams four Eagles were recognizeded. Senior Sarah Rahko (Londonderry, N.H.) and sophomore goalkeeper Kate Taylor (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) were first team honorees and freshman Mary Schneck and senior Beth Totman were chosen for the second team.
This is Rahko's fourth straight selection to the All-Northeast first team. In her senior season of 2003, Rahko helped the Eagles to their best record ever (15-3-3). She led the team in assists with nine and was third in points with 21. She was a first-team All-BIG EAST selection for the third consecutive season, making her the first Eagle to accomplish that feat. Rahko was also honored as a NEWISA All-New England selection for the second straight year. She wraps up her Eagle career with 27 goals and 40 assists for 94 points.
Taylor was also a first-team All-BIG EAST honoree in 2003. A team co-captain as a sophomore, she was named the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a goals against average of .663 and a save percentage of .818.
Schneck, a BIG EAST All-Rookie team member, finished the season with five points (one goal, three assists). Her speed and ability to generate an attack from the backfield helped anchor a defensive unit that held opponents to just .69 goals per game.
Totman, who was named Most Outstanding Offensive Player at the 2003 BIG EAST Tournament, also earned second team all-region honors. The senior, who played three seasons at Harvard before coming to BC, was the Eagles' leading scorer with 14 goals and six assists. At the BIG EAST Tournament, Totman netted the game-winning goal in each of BC's two wins, including a 2-1 victory over third-ranked Notre Dame.
