CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman center Kathrin Ress (Salorno, Italy) registered 15 points and six rebounds - both career highs - and junior Jessalyn Deveny (Westford, Mass.) added 14 points to lead No. 24 Boston College to a 50-41 BIG EAST victory over Seton Hall before 1,143 fans at Conte Forum.
For Ress, the game marked her third straight scoring in double figures. Sophomore forward Brooke Queenan (West Chester, Pa.) also contributed to the effort handing out a career-high six assists. She also tallied five points and grabbed five rebounds.
The Eagles (13-3, 3-2) shot a season-low 36.5 percent from the field in the first half and committed 13 turnovers but the two teams went into the break tied at 21. The 21 first-half points marked the lowest point total in any half for Boston College this season.
Seton Hall (10-6, 2-3) took a 31-30 advantage on an old-fashioned three-point play from Ashley Bush (10 points, seven rebounds) with 12:32 in the second half. But Boston College responded with a 9-0 run of its own to take an eight-point lead, a lead which it would not relinquish. The Pirates never got closer than five points the rest of the way.
Senior Amber Jacobs (Clarks Summit, Pa.) was held without a field goal for the first time since Feb. 26, 2003 against Virginia Tech but registered six rebounds for the Eagles.
The Eagles scored a total of 50 points, marking the lowest point total of the season.
Boston College is back in action this Saturday when it travels to Blacksburg, Va. to face Virginia Tech. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
