Amherst, Mass. - The Boston College field hockey team evened its record with a 2-0 shutout win over Massachusetts Wednesday evening at Garber Field in Amherst, Massachusetts. With the win, the Eagles improve to 1-1 on the season. The Minutewomen fall to 1-2.
Boston College scored once in each half with the eventual game winner coming just over six minutes into the game. Senior Kim French (Shrewsbury, Mass.) connected on a rebound from a penalty corner play. It was her second goal of the season. Sophomore Sara York (Watertown, Mass.) added an insurance goal at the 56:57 mark, finishing the scoring for the game.
BC's Jillian Savoy (Lexington, Mass.) recorded the win in net for the Eagles, her first career shutout. BC outshot Massachusetts 19-6 while taking eight more corners than the Minutewomen.
The Eagles will host their first home game Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against Ohio. They will host Michigan Sunday in another 1:00 p.m. tilt.
